Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year. Not because of pumpkin spice, but for everything else. You have beautiful colors on the trees. The weather is not hot or cold. There is a different smell in the air. You can drink hot cider and sit by the bonfire. I grew up in Northeast Ohio and the colors were picturesque. This is why I wanted to dedicate a blog to my favorite season. The United States offers numerous cities and regions where you can enjoy the stunning fall foliage. The best cities for viewing fall colors often depend on the timing of your visit, as peak foliage varies by location and year. Here are some of the top cities and regions known for their vibrant fall foliage:

Northeast:
There are so many charming places in the northeast that offer the vest view of the fall colors. Here are the ones that are favorites of mine.
Stowe, Vermont
Vermont is famous for its fall foliage, and Stowe is a prime destination. Mid-September through early October is the best time to visit for peak foliage.
Bar Harbor, Maine
Acadia National Park in Maine provides breathtaking views of fall colors along the coast. Late September to early October is ideal for foliage here. What I love about this port is that you can cruise to this port and see multiple ports along with this one.
The Berkshires, Massachusetts
This region in western Massachusetts is famous for its rolling hills and vibrant fall foliage. Mid-September to early October is the best time to go.
The Adirondacks, New York
The Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York provide a stunning backdrop for fall foliage, especially in early to mid-October.
Northwest:
This country is huge, but beautiful regardless of where you travel. If you have already traveled to the northeast for the fall colors, take a new adventure to the northwest. There are some beautiful sights that we must see in the US fall colors.
Bend, Oregon
Central Oregon's high desert landscapes, combined with colorful foliage, make for a unique fall experience in the Pacific Northwest. Late September to early October is the best time to visit.
Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada
The alpine setting of Lake Tahoe is enhanced by the vibrant colors of the surrounding forests. Late September to early October is the ideal time to witness the fall foliage.

Other US Cities to see the Fall Colors
Ashville, North Carolina
The Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding Asheville come alive with brilliant colors in the fall, especially in late October. The Blue Ridge Parkway offers incredible scenic drives.
Taos, New Mexico
Taos and the surrounding areas feature a mix of vibrant aspen and cottonwood trees against a backdrop of desert terrain. Late September to early October is the peak season.
Door County, Wisconsin
Known as the "Cape Cod of the Midwest," Door County offers picturesque fall foliage along its coastline. Late September to early October is the prime time for leaf-peeping.
Gatlinburg, Tennessee,
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers stunning fall foliage, and Gatlinburg is a gateway to this natural wonder. Mid-October is typically the best time to visit.
Remember that the timing of peak foliage can vary from year to year, so it's a good idea to check local foliage reports and plan your trip accordingly. Additionally, while these cities and regions are known for their fall colors, many other parts of the United States also offer beautiful autumn displays, so you may discover hidden gems as well. Make an entire vacation from seeing the US fall colors. When we traveled to Gatlinburg, we rode horses, stayed in a cabin, went hiking and more. It was one of my most memorable vacations. In the northeast, I loved apple picking, drinking cider, talking with locals, and eating farm to table. There is so much to do centered around fall. Go exploring!
