To visit Ireland was on my dream travel list. To see the green vistas, the rolling landscapes, the naturally rock formations and cliffs, to feel the breezes and see the sheep dotted along the hills. It took my breath away. With every turn and every day that I woke and toured, was a new thrill. It was a new adventure and full of excitement. Food is always part of any culture and Ireland is serving it up! You truly gain a sense of Ireland. After a full day of touring, be ready to be pampered.
Because we toured around most of Ireland, I have included several different options around the country.Â
1.The Tannery, Waterford: This restaurant combines fine dining, but without the pretense. Using local ingredients and produce, The Tannery has a talent for earthy flavors and ambiance. The views just add to the experience.
2.Fullerton Arms Restaurant, Ballintoy, Northern Ireland: While this restaurant is technically in Ireland, it is part of the United Kingdom. We stopped at this place while visiting the Giants Causeway and after visiting the Titanic Museum (highly recommend). They have traditional Irish cuisine and traditional cooking techniques that they use. My husband loves fish, so he tried the fish and chips, and I had the mussels. Of course we had to have dessert! You are on vacation, so indulge for a day or two. They also have a hotel attached if you want to stay for a few days.
3.Killarny Brewing and Distilling Company, Killarney: This restaurant, brewing and distillery company is located on one of the recommended stops while traveling on the Ring of Kerry. If you are looking for something hand crafted, this stop will not disappoint. Created from hand and from the earth, it is fantastic. What moves this brewery, tap room and restaurant is that they also offer vegetarian dishes to include the vegetarian ‘meatloaf.’
4.Cask, Cork: This restaurant and bar is unique. What first caught my eye is the fun and fantastic names they have for their craft cocktails. If you look at their website, they tell you what is included but also have fun pictures to demonstrate their cocktails. The team uses only local ingredients not only for their food, but for their cocktails too.Â
5.Davy Byrnes, Dublin: This restaurant was one a hostel, has been serving food since the late 1700s. It was so hard to narrow down our choices. I highly recommend the deep-fried brie, double smash burger, and the traditional Irish lamb stew. You will be full and smiling as you leave.
Ireland boasts a vibrant culinary scene that blends traditional flavors with innovative techniques. Whether you are exploring Dublin's bustling streets or the serene countryside, these restaurants promise an unforgettable dining experience.
Each of these restaurants highlights the best of Irish gastronomy, making them must-visit destinations for any food enthusiast traveling through Ireland.
