When you hear the word luxury, it invokes a feeling. It creates a unique vision. Luxury creates a certain feeling and an expectation of service. To understand luxury, let’s start with what luxury is. According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, luxury is a condition of abundance or great ease and comfort: sumptuous environment. It also defines it as an indulgence in something that provides pleasure, satisfaction, or ease.
But listen, a definition is just a starting point. Luxury is different for everyone, but what I have found throughout the years does center on the experience and service of the luxury trip. Service is a huge part of it. Think of fast tracking through the immigration and customs line when you arrive at your destination, private transfers, and a private concierge. Ladies and Gentlemen – listen, I am just getting started. There is so much to luxury than just the hotel, but before I get ahead of myself, let me start with some helpful pointers.
Pointers for Preparing for Your First Luxury Trip
#1 Location
This is the starting point to your first luxury trip is deciding where to go. There are so many fabulous places to explore. Try something exotic, adventurous, or some place you have always wanted to go. This is the favorite part of preparing for your vacation. Remember, this is your vacation and can be tailored to what you want it to be. Dream away.
#2 Decide how you want to Travel
You will need to decide how you want to travel. If flying to your destination, do you want to fly in first class, or charter a flight? Do you want to charter a private yacht or travel with a small group?
#3 Seek Assistance
Using a travel planner provides assistance and helps with all the details. They have experience in planning and coordinating with multiple vendors. They provide a detailed itinerary with confirmation numbers, and other additional details. You receive personalized service from the beginning.
#4 Documents
Preparing for your first luxury trip includes having all your documents in order. This includes your passport and copies of your passport. You will need several blank pages remaining in your passport ready to stamp for your trip and at least six months remaining prior to expiration at the end of your trip. I highly recommend having global entry. Global entry saves you time when returning to the United States and you skip the long lines. Also, if you need visas for a country, apply early enough prior to travel so that your travel plans are not delayed.
#5 Vaccines
While COVID vaccines are not required anymore, there are still routine vaccines that are either required or highly encouraged. It depends on the countries you are traveling to and understand that they can change. The ones that I have encountered when helping my luxury clients are the ones that we received as children along with rabies and malaria.
#6 Healthcare
I recommend always taking a few extra days of your daily medication. Your plans may change, you may want to stay a few extra days or a flight may change. If you take a few extra days of your medication, you will have what you need. Some countries have a list of controlled medications. Before taking them on your vacation, review what is allowed in a country. Also, take them with you in the original bottle. I recommend having vacation protection when traveling. There may be a situation when an accident happens. It helps to have protection.
#7 Luggage
One of the most important things you can do to prepare for your first luxury trip is to invest in high-quality luggage. Ensure the luggage has spinner wheels. This makes it easier to use. #8 Dress for Trip
It is time to depart for your first luxury trip. Dress in your luxury outfit. The material feels special. Your mindset is in your vacation mode and in that luxury space. You are ready!
